Forschungsinteresse

– Permafrost processes and climate change impacts: understanding permafrost dynamics and their environmental and societal implications.

– Arctic coastal dynamics: coastal erosion, landscape change, and the interactions between permafrost, land and sea.

– Land–sea matter fluxes: transport of organic carbon, sediments and other materials from terrestrial to marine environments.

– Long-term permafrost monitoring: development and coordination of international observing networks and standardized monitoring approaches.

– Earth observation and geospatial analysis: integrating in situ measurements, satellite remote sensing and spatial data to assess environmental change.

– Research data management and open science: data quality assurance, harmonization, interoperability and the development of sustainable data infrastructures.

– International scientific collaboration and network coordination: building global research communities, fostering knowledge exchange and coordinating collaborative initiatives.

– Community-based and participatory research: connecting scientific monitoring with local and Indigenous knowledge, priorities and needs.

– Cryosphere observation and climate services: advancing the integration of permafrost monitoring into broader international climate and cryosphere observing systems.
