Past ICRSS Conferences

On this page you will find information and data on ICRSS conferences already held.

The International Circumpolar Remote Sensing Symposium was first held in Yellowknife, Canada in 1990 and since then it has alternated between North American and Europe on a biennial basis. It grew from the often-expressed need for exchange of information among those in governments, universities, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector interested with remote sensing research and applications in the polar environments. The symposium provides a forum for the exchange of current applied international research, the presentation of new technology, and the advancement of national and international cooperation in the circumpolar regions of the world.

9th ICRSS 2006 (Seward, Alaska USA)

The 9th International Circumpolar Remote Sensing Symposium, May 15-19, 2006 in Seward, Alaska USA dealed specifically with remote sensing applications in the polar environments, both Arctic and Antarctic. It provided an international forum for the discussion of work currently being carried out in the circumpolar regions of the world.

10th ICRSS 2008 (Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada)

The 10th International Circumpolar Remote Sensing Symposium and 29th Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing, June 2-5, 2008 in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada dealed specifically with remote sensing applications in the polar environments, both Arctic and Antarctic, as well as sessions on other topics that do not concern polar work. It provided an international forum for the discussion of work currently being carried out in the circumpolar regions and elsewhere.

11th ICRSS 2010 (Cambridge, United Kingdom)

The 11th International Circumpolar Remote Sensing Symposium, September 20-24, 2010, Cambridge, United Kingdom, dealed specifically with remote sensing applications in the polar environments, both Arctic and Antarctic. It provided an international forum for the discussion of work currently being carried out in the circumpolar regions.
