Cinema release: Salt and Water
The film “Salt and Water” will premiere at the Zeiss-Großplanetarium in Berlin on 19 August.
The documentary film Salt and Water, directed by Ines Reinisch, takes the audience aboard the research icebreaker “Polarstern” and follows an international expedition to East Antarctica. Led by the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel in collaboration with the Alfred Wegener Institute and international partners, the research team investigated the potential shift of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current and the resulting consequences for global sea levels. At the same time, the film offers personal insights into the everyday lives of the scientists and conveys what an expedition under extreme conditions entails.
