Board of Governors
The Board of Governors decides on the general and financial matters of the AWI Foundation, taking into account the opinion of the Scientific Advisory Board. It monitors the legality, expediency and efficiency of the management of the foundation's business.
The Board of Governors adopts the annual budget and multi-year financial plans, including expansion and investment programmes.
The Board of Governors examines the annual financial statements and management report submitted by the Board of Directors, as well as the progress report on the centres, and decides on the discharge of the Board of Directors in accordance with the legal provisions applicable to limited liability companies.
The Board of Governors decides on amendments to the Articles of Association, the dissolution of the Foundation and the treatment of third-party claims against members of the Executive Board.
The Board of Governors appoints the members of the Executive Board and the deputies of the Scientific Director.
The Board of Governors decides on strategic and programmatic matters in the field of research, including the professional orientation of outstanding positions in the field of science.
The Board of Governors consists of representatives of the federal and state governments as well as notable identities from science and public life.
