The General Equal Treatment Act (AGG) protects employees from discrimination on the basis of age, gender, disability, chronic illness, religion, sexual identity and racist or anti-Semitic grounds. Violations of the AGG can occur in various forms, e.g. through sexist remarks, a lack of consideration for chronic illnesses or a lack of training opportunities for older employees.
If you feel that you have been disadvantaged or discriminated against, any suspicion will be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated at AWI. Employees and applicants can contact the AGG complaints office confidentially at any time in accordance with Section 13 AGG. Further information can be found here (linked at the bottom of the page).

We are aware that humans are neurologically diverse, and that adjustments and reorganizations may be necessary in order to work in a more structured way and meet requirements. We therefore aim to create the best possible working environment for all employees. To this end, we are continuously working on our offerings:
- Workplace design: Personalising the workplace as much as possible to support people with different needs, e.g. by providing special aids or a quieter working environment).
- Knowledge transfer and protection against discrimination: Raising employee awareness of the needs of people with neurodivergent conditions, e.g. through training, handouts and counselling services.
- Support from company integration management (BEM): Needs-based support from BEM to find solutions for returning to work and to make possible adjustments to the workplace or work processes.
- Openness to flexible working hours and working models: We promote flexible working models, such as mobile working or part-time working (depending on the specific position, up to 50% of working hours possible).
- Barrier-free and open communication: Further development and promotion of barrier-free and inclusive communication, e.g. through clear, structured distribution of tasks, the use of various communication channels or regular feedback.
We are in an ongoing process of reflection and learning in order to constantly improve and further develop the structures.
