Project content
In the BEA project, the highly effective multifunctional structures of marine organisms are used in combination with selected sustainable materials for construction. Several environmentally relevant effects can thus be achieved, such as material substitution, use of renewable materials, CO2 reduction by reducing or avoiding the use of concrete, and energy saving using passive but thermally insulating systems. Due to the applicants' unique approach and experience in transferring multifunctional, highly efficient lightweight structures, the research approach is both innovative and effective.

Objective
BEA will initially produce environmentally friendly, functional solutions for the building sector. An interesting exploitation possibility is the use for temporary buildings for expeditions (mobile research stations) and disaster areas (replacement housing), but also for dynamic commercial areas, because the sustainable building concept of BEA offers advantages from the point of view of design, energy optimisation, space requirement profiles as well as weight compared to conventional solutions.

PlanktonTech pavilion consisting of 100 GRP modules. Individual modules are to be replaced by new developments. Due to its low weight, the pavilion is to be transported as a complete structure.
