Memorandum of Understanding signed in China

Cooperation in Arctic and Antarctic Research

The Chinese Arctic and Antarctic Administration (CAA) and the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on their future cooperation.

On 25 May 2017 Qin Weijia, director of the Chinese Arctic and Antarctic Administration and Uwe Nixdorf, vice director of the Alfred Wegener Institute signed the document during a meeting in China. They agreed on the support of common cooperation in the polar regions. This is of particular importance for the planned Polarstern drift experiment MOSAiC.
