AWI welcomes international scholarship holders

Scholarship of the Japanese Nippon Foundation and POGO (Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans)

The Alfred Wegener Institute welcomes the new scholarship holders of the Centre of Excellence in Observational Oceanography. The international young scientists will be embarking a ten-month traineeship as ocean experts.

The Japanese Nippon Foundation and POGO (Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans) want to strengthen the globally networked oceanographic research. The third year of POGO scholars is looking forward to courses in the laboratories and on the ships of the AWI sites Helgoland and Sylt.

During the next ten months the young scientists will learn standard methods of marine science to be able to use them in future in their homecountries. They come from Russia, Brazil, India, Croatia, Ghana, Senegal, Bangladesh, Madagascar, Japan and from the Philippines.
