Public celebration for German Unity Day

The main celebrations for this year’s German Unity Day will take place in Bremen from 2 to 4 October. During this time, the Alfred Wegener Institute will be showcasing its work alongside other scientific institutions in the state of Bremen within the division of marine, polar and climate research in the former Galeria Kaufhof building in Bremen city centre. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in the world of Bremen’s marine, polar and climate research through experiments, games, virtual reality, interactive applications and, last but not least, direct contact with researchers. Young and old alike are warmly invited to experience science at first hand.

Alongside the AWI, participants include the German Alliance for Marine Reseach (DAM), the Institute for Environmental Physics (IUP) at the University of Bremen, the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT), MARUM – Centre for Marine Environmental Sciences at the University of Bremen, the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology and TRR 420 CONCENTRATE.
