      During the fifth week of our Polarstern expedition PS97 we left the Antarctic Peninsula area close to Elephant Island to start our second Drake Passage

      4 January 2017, 2 weeks and 5 days at sea. The morning finds Polarstern alongside the ice shelf edge, or, more precisely, at the north-eastern berth of Atka Sea Port.

      the AWI-Intranet (AWI employees only) or on request from Mrs. Kniemeyer-Schulze. Participants in Polarstern expeditions receive the documents in the Expedition Interface System (EIS).

    • Week 2 at the ice floe

      online and off-line instrumentation (high volume and size-resolved samplers), was installed on Polarstern on the upper deck to measure in-situ atmospheric aerosol physical-chemical properties.

    • Further to the North and two more stations

      and Terror Gulf completing two more stations. Another highlight were curtesy visits between the Polarstern and the Argentinian vessel Almirante Irizar.
