Prince Albert II of Monaco honors the merits of AWI Director Antje Boetius with her induction into the Order of St. Charles

The Principality of Monaco has honored Prof. Dr. Antje Boetius, Director of the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI), with admission to the Order of Saint Charles, founded in 1858. The award of the Order of Saint Charles and Grimaldi recognizes the exceptional work of the marine biologist.

The Order of Saint Charles is the only award that the Principality also bestows on people from abroad. Antje Boetius received this honor during a ceremony at the princely palace in Monaco on November 17, 2024.
