Research interests
I am interested in understanding past ocean and climate dynamics on various time scales. I am particularly interested in investigating the dynamics of abrupt changes in the coupled ocean-cryosphere-climate system at northern and southern high latitudes during the last glacial and deglacial periods as well as longer-term changes in Southern Ocean paleoceanography back to the Miocene. My research is mainly based on paleoceanographic reconstructions using organic and inorganic geochemical proxy methods, with a focus on molecular biomarkers for reconstructing past temperature and sea ice dynamics.
