Finland 2020

The field campaign took place in October 2020 in the Siikaneva wetland complex in Southern Finland. Our goal is to monitor and explain the exchange of greenhouse gases between soil and atmosphere during the different seasons and along a water table gradient between wetland and forest as part of the FluxWIN (The role of non-growing season processes in the methane and nitrous oxide budgets in pristine northern ecosystems) project. The 360° images show the setup of a new weather station in the forest and a characterization of the study site during our very first field campaign at Siikaneva bog. From now on the weather station will continuously send meteorological data like air and soil temperature, wind speed and wind direction, amount of rainfall and snow depth to AWI Potsdam. This data can then be used to explain variations in the exchange of greenhouse gases over the year.
