In the DFG-funded Emmy-Noether junior research group MOVE "Mid-Ocean Volcanoes and Earthquakes", we collected an extensive dataset of local earthquake records in several expeditions (AMORE - SWEAP - RHUM - AURORA), the first on ultraslow ridges. From the earthquakes we obtain information on unusual volcanic activity, such as that at the Gakkel Ridge in 1999-2001, on the thermal and mechanical state of the lithosphere (Schlindwein & Schmid 2016) and on the magma pathways to the distant volcanoes, a feature of ultraslow ridges (Schmid et al. 2017).
