GREEN VISIONS POTSDAM returns for its third edition. Under the motto “Seeing climate change differently, understanding it better, retelling it anew – through films, knowledge and optimism”, the festival brings together international documentary films, science and public dialogue. This year’s festival takes place from 28 to 31 May.
As part of the programme, the documentary Nuisance Bear by Jack Weisman and Gabriela Osio Vanden will be screened on Friday, 29 May at 8 pm. The film takes the audience to the Canadian Arctic, where polar bear habitats increasingly collide with the modern world. Told from the perspective of a polar bear, it explores the tensions between wilderness, tourism and control, while highlighting the consequences of climate change. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Verena Mohaupt from AWI Potsdam.
Further information can be found here.
On Saturday, 30 May at 2 pm, the documentary Melt by Nikolaus Geyrhalter will be shown. Through striking images of melting ice landscapes and the people who live with them as part of everyday life in different parts of the world, the film draws attention to the profound changes caused by climate change. Bernhard Diekmann from AWI Potsdam will join the subsequent discussion as a guest speaker.
