[07. December 2018]

December 7 is the day of junior researchers at the Alfred Wegener Institute. From 9:00 to 15:00, graduates of all disciplines present their work in the lecture hall. AWI director Antje Boetius welcomes the PhD students, junior group leader Scarlett Trimborn gives a keynote lecture.

A total of eleven third-year PhD students have the opportunity to present their research to the entire AWI community in this internal symposium. Their topics range from Siberian permafrost, phytoplankton pigments in the Arctic Ocean and protist communities in the North Sea to geothermal heat flow measurements in the sea floor and the tectonic opening history of the plates of today's New Zealand and Antarctica.
