We have reached the northern hemisphere and are moving further north at a good speed. The beautiful and warm weather has accompanied us for almost a week, which tempted one or the other to enjoy a sunbath on the helideck during the lunch breaks – sometimes ending with a little sunburn.
On the way to the Canaries, we passed the Cape Verde Islands, which we could hardly see, in the evening of April 21, and we sailed between Tenerife and Gran Caniaria at sunset.
As we approached the Bay of Biscay, temperatures dropped in order to adapt to the local temperatures in Bremerhaven. Not only the temperatures changed, the fine weather also took a temporary break. In the Biscay, the sea was a bit rougher for two days.
The smooth passage through the English Channel made up for this until we arrived the “Weserlotse” at 1 p.m. on April 29, 2021. Thus, the expedition PS125 has almost ended.
As already previously reported, we had a very comfortable cruise. The atmosphere between the nautical and scientific crews was very good.
In this place, I would like to thank the captain and his crew for the friendly welcome in their group.
Current data:
Distance since Port Stanley: 7305 nm
The nautical and the scientific crews send their best wishes
