Delegation from Japanese Institute JAMSTEC visits the Alfred Wegener Institute
19. September 2012. The new president of JAMSTEC, Dr Asahiko Taira, and his delegation visited the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) in Bremerhaven yesterday. They met AWI director Prof. Dr. Karin Lochte and scientists already cooperating with JAMSTEC (Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology). Both groups agreed that a joint workshop should be organised next year, to be held in Germany, in order to strengthen the existing cooperations and to develop concrete new collaborative activities and projects. The main objective of this workshop is for scientists from various German marine research institutions to identify together with their Japanese counterparts issues and projects for further collaboration.
