IMUM 2011 - The 10th International Workshop on Multiscale (Un-)structured Mesh Numerical Modelling for coastal, shelf and global ocean dynamics

Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research

Bremerhaven, Germany, 22 - 25 August 2011

About the workshop

In August AWI Bremerhaven will host the tenth international workshop on multiscale (un-)structured grid modelling of coastal, shelf and ocean flows. Like in previous years this meeting is meant to bring together developers and users of models dealing with processes on several scales employing nesting techniques or unstructured grid approaches. Topics range from model development to global applications.

We invite posters and 15 min presentations from you. There will also be invited talks and overview presentations as well as discussions following all sessions.

Oral presentations and posters are expected to deal with all aspects of numerical modeling of marine flows involving several scales of motion. All approaches are welcome including unstructured mesh methods as well as nested grid technologies. Like in earlier workshops the scope of contributions includes finite volume or finite difference discretizations, basis functions, solver issues, grid generation, academic and real world applications from regional to global domain employing multiscale methods. Furthermore presentations on implementation issues and results of 2D and 3D models, hydrostatic or non-hydrostatic approaches, geo-biological modules as well as model validation, numerical optimization, visualization are all very welcome.
