The logistic handling of expeditions with FS Polarstern is carried out via a web-based application.

The scientific coordination creates expeditions with a voyage leader. The voyage leader defines projects (groups), so that then project leaders are invited by automatic email. These in turn determine the individual participants which are also automatically invited.

After the invitation, the expedition participants have to register via email in the EIS. The required data can then be filled in step by step. The entries can be saved so that they are available for further expeditions.

Personal data, arrival and departure planning, expedition equipment and freight are recorded step by step.

The data within the EIS refer to the actual stay on board Polarstern.

The entire cargo for Polarstern must also be recorded via EIS. Individual freight lists can no longer be processed.
