Kick-Off Meeting: Nansen Legacy

This week 160 researchers, research leaders, representatives from the Norwegian Research Council, stakeholders, industry, management and international cooperation partners were gathered in Tromsø. Amonst them AWI director Prof Antje Boetius and Arcitc scientist Dr Michael Karcher, both members of the project's Advisory Board. 

This was the marking of the startup of this great multidisciplinary project, the Nansen Legacy (2018–2023), aiming to understand and predict the natural and human influences on ice-covered Barents Sea ecosystem beyond the present ice edge. "This is an important partner project regarding Arctic research", says Boetius. From Juli 2018 on the new Norwegian research vessel Kronprins Haakon will be used also within the framework of the ARICE Consortium. Futher information is given on this Nansen Legacy project website.
