Argentinean ambassador visited the AWI Bremerhaven
Talks about the successful German-Argentinean cooperation in Antarctica

The Argentinean ambassador in Germany, Daniel Polski, visited the AWI Bremerhaven today. In talks with AWI director Prof Dr Karin Lochte and several other AWI scientists the guest got to know more details about the institute itself and the long and successful German-Argentinean cooperation in Antarctica.
The Alfred-Wegener-Institut and the Instituto Antártico Argentino (IAA) have been jointly running the Dallmann laboratory at Carlini Station, Potter Cove, King George Island, since January 1994.
At this research base (formerly known as Jubany base) Argentinean, German and other international scientists conduct cooperative projects investigating the Antarctic shallow water ecosystems and the terrestrial communities on Potter Peninsula.
Dallmann Laboratory offers living and working space for 14 scientists working in 6 laboratories and a thermostated aquarium container. Most marine projects require intensive diving support, provided by divers from the Argentine DNA (Direccion Nacional del Antaritco) and AWI diving teams.
