Can I just visit the institute without prior arrangements?
Unfortunately, this is not possible. You will need to make an appointment for visits of the institute at all of the locations. This does not, of course, apply to the educational and research aquarium on Helgoland, which is always open for visits by the general public during regular opening hours.
Can I visit RV Polarstern when it is tied up in the dockyard in Bremerhaven?
As the dockyard periods for Polarstern are mostly short and arranged on a very tight schedule, it is not possible to visit Polarstern. However, approximately every two to three years we have ‘Open Ship’ days on Polarstern, which will be announced in advance on our website and through our event calendar.
Can I book a speaker for a presentation?
You are organizing an event with natural scientific background and you would like to invite a speaker? In general, our researchers are available for presentations to larger groups (40 persons and more). Please contact Kinga Jarzynka, Department of Communications and Media Relations, sufficiently in advance about your particular request. We apologize for not being able to respond positively in all cases.
