NETCARE – Arctic study of short-lived climate pollutants

NETCARE (Network on Climate and Aerosols: Addressing Key Uncertainties in Remote Canadian Environments) is a network comprised of researchers from different Canadian universities under the leadership oft he University of Toronto and few partners from outside Canada, like AWI Bremerhaven.  NETCARE is one of seven networks funded by the new Climate Change and Atmospheric Research (CCAR) program at NSERC.

Three research activities from NETCARE are focused on specific aerosol-climate connections that remain poorly characterized, and will be addressed through a variety of observational approaches. The last activity integrates the results from Activities 1-3, approaching the subject from a comprehensive modeling perspective so as to provide a broad assessment of aerosol climate effects.

Within the project two aircraft campaigns with the AWI aircraft POLAR 6 were scheduled, NETCARE summer 2014 from Resolute Bay (Nunavut) and NETCARE spring 2015 along the PAMARCMiP route from Longyearbyen (Svalbard) to Inuvik (NWT).
