Inkaba yeAfrica - A German-South African collaborative Earth Science Initiative

German and South African Earth Scientists have developed a program to study structure and development of southern Africa from the mantle to the surface. Here, we find a natural laboratory because the African craton provides a geological archive covering the last 3.5 billion years. From the German side AWI, BGR and GFZ participate in the program, a number of South African institutions take part (UCT, University of KwaZulu Natal, Council for Geoscience, HartRAO, Western Cape, CSIR, and many more).

Our projects AISTEK-I: the Agulhas-Karoo Geoscience Transect, AISTEK-I: Sedimentation Patterns, AISTEK-II, and Cape Basin form part of this research initiative.
