OPC: Optical Particle Counter
Purpose of Participation
- Observation of the aerosol number size distributions at Rabben station.
Instrument description
The instrument OPC is used for measurement of the number size distribution. The complex refractive index was estimated from simultaneous measurements with an IN, an OPC and a PSAP.
| Species | Aerosols |
| Method | Measure the light scattering from aerosol. |
| Quantity primary | Number size distributions |
| Quantity secondary | in case of spherical particles: Single scattering albedo/ refractive index (combined measurements with the IN and the PSAP) |
| Radius | 0.15 - 2.5 m (5ch) |
| Temporal resolution | 1 minutes |
| Operation | |
| Precision | ± 5% |
| Data availability (during campaign) | Next day |
| Final data (after campaign) | Six months |
Specific remarks
- ground-based system
- If the preparation is in time for the campaign, we will bring the OPC measured the number density for the radius ranges from 0.04 m to 0.25 m.
