The specialised diatom research library of the Friedrich Hustedt Diatom Centre is administered by the central AWI library and may be accessed by prior arrangement with Friedel Hinz. The library is located at:

This specialised library used to form part of the private library of Friedrich Hustedt and has since been supplemented with all important publications on diatom research. The collection comprises over 8000 bibliographic units, of which more than two thirds are offprints. The principal focus of the literature concerns the taxonomy and morphology of diatoms.
