The main foci of the “Marine Chemistry” group are

• chemical characterisation and flux studies of organic matter in the ocean with special emphasis on the dissolved fraction

• composition of lipids occurring in the marine environment, especially in zooplankton from tropics to high latitudes

• determination of nutrients in all oceanographic regimes in connection with plankton development and as hydrographical tracer
