AGU Award for Dr. Sabine Kasten

28 September 2010. The American Geophysical Union (AGU) honored Dr. Sabine Kasten, Deputy Head of Section Marine Geochemistry at the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, with the „Editors’ Citation Award for Excellence in Refereeing for Paleoceanography“.  Sabine Kasten has been cited by the editors Eelco Rohling and Gerald Dickens for excellence in refereeing and was recommended for consistently providing constructive and thoughtful reviews. The award was announced in the latest issue of AGU Journal EOS.


 

Conference on ocean acidification opened in Bremerhaven

27 September 2010. What are the possible impacts of ocean acidification on marine life? This week more than 200 scientists from all over Europe will discuss the most recent results on ocean acidification at the first joint meeting of the three large coordinated projects, EPOCA (European Project on Ocean Acidification), the German project BIOACID (Biological Impacts of Ocean ACIDification) and UK project UKOARP (UK Ocean Acidification Research Program).
