AWI members

I am a scientist and want to do training dives at Helgoland island.

Scientists: Scientists trained as German or European scientific divers are welcome to do training dives at the AWI center for scientific diving at Helgoland Island. The stay should be applied for as early as possible (via scientific.diving@awi.de) and last for at least one week to allow safe and efficient underwater work.

If you plan to come to Helgoland for joining our scientific dive team as a scientist guest diver, you will find detailed information about the application procedure for scientists here (in German language only).

I am NOT a scientific diver at all and need full assistance by the AWI center for scientific diving.

Please fill out the so called "Bestellzettel" (= order form) and send it via AWI-internal mail to Philipp Fischer -  BAH, Haus A.

Some more information on dive requests with full personal support by the BAH dive team: The dive request, e.g. for sampling species or conducting experimental work under water will be normally scheduled in our dive plan within 14 days after receiving the signed request.

All registered dive request are listed in our Helgoland dive shedule. There you will find the actual information about your dive request including when "your" dive is scheduled and who is in charge for "your" dive request. To make your requests as easy as possible to handle, please fill out the request form as complete as possible and specific your needs as precisely as possible. If you have any questions while filling out the "Bestellzettel", please contact the dive center at scientific.diving(at)awi.de or directly by phone.

What does it cost (fees):  Scientific dive missions for sampling species or conducting experimental work under water (for AWI members) are charged with 60 € per 1/2 day. Included in this fee is a complete dive group (3 divers) and all required logistic.
