The joint French-German research Base in Ny-Ålesund is located in a number of buildings of the research village of Ny-Ålesund. Here you can find an overview of the station buildings and their usage.

The research projects at the base cover a wide variety of topics in the areas of atmospheric and cryospheric science and biology. There are observatories for the atmosphere, the permafrost as well as an international marine laboratory.
