Motorboats Aade and Diker

Both vessels operate in the waters around the Island of Helgoland. Unlike with ‘Heincke’ and ‘Uthörn’, it is possible to organise the use of both boats at relatively short notice. The ‘Aade’ is used for sampling campaigns of the long term monitoring station (Helgoland roads data). Moreover, biological material is collected with the help of the ‘Aade’, to be used in research projects by visiting and AWI scientists and as feed for the animals in the aquarium. The standard equipment on board of the ‘Aade’ comprises various types of plankton nets and Niskin bottles that can be deployed by a crane.
The motorboat ‘Diker’ is designed for the special needs of the research diver group, equipped for dive operations of up to 6 divers.
