The Computing and AWI Data Centre from Alfred Wegener Institute is responsible for web, database, and archival services associated with several information systems. Tools for data analysis and visualization developed by AWI staff are also listed below as well as PANGAEA software suite. Biosciences
- Database for the "Friedrich Hustedt Study Centre for Diatoms" Description: Taxonomy, description and imagery on the "Friedrich Hustedt Study Centre for Diatoms",one of the largest diatom collections of the world. Contact: Friedel Hinz
- Plankton*Net Description: Taxonomy, description and imagery on plankton collections from AWI-Helgoland, Station Biologique de Roscoff and University of Lisbon. Contact: Dr. Alexandra Kraberg
- Macrozoobenthos. Description: Database for macro benthic flora from Kongsfjorden (Svalbard). Contact: Dr. Markus Herrmann
- Phylogena. Description: tool to help biologists in phylogenetic annotation of unknown open reading frames or protein sequences. It automatically produces phylogenetic trees from a rule-based selection of BLAST hits for up to hundreds of query sequences and allows the user to interact with the analyses as well as the resulting trees. - eWOCE - electronic Atlas of WOCE data. Description: Data and software package for the world ocean circulation experiment WOCE. Contact: Prof. Dr. Reiner Schlitzer
- Hydrographic Atlas of the Southern Ocean. Description: Database for temperature, salinity and oxyen data charts for the ocean south of 30 degrees south. In addition, the individual datasets used to build the atlas can be found at PANGAEA. Contact: Prof. Dirk Olbers
