Dynamics of microbial communities in degrading permafrost ecosystems
Present projects are focussing on:
- Modern Methane Cycle in Permafrost Environments of the Lena Delta, Siberia
- Methanogenic Communities in Submarine Permafrost of the Laptev Sea Shelf, Siberia
- Reconstruction of the Methane Cycle in Late Pleistocene Permafrost of the El’gygytgyn Lake Region, Siberia
- Antarctic Microbial Communities, Livingston Island, Maritime Antarctic
- Development of Microbial Communities in a Glacier Forefield, Larsemann Hills, East Antarctic
- Tolerance Limits of Methanogenic Archaea in Terrestrial Permafrost
- Viability of Methanogenic Archaea in Terrestrial Permafrost
- Methane and Nitrogen Cycling in Permafrost-affected Soils of the Tibetan Plateau
The studies were funded through the AWI Research Program MARCOPOLI, by the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF), by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and by the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centre (HGF).
