Zooplankton in the Wadden Sea
Different from the open ocean or even the North Sea zooplankton in the Wadden Sea consists mainly of meroplanktonic organisms.
In spring / early summer and autumn larvae of benthic organisms form their dense "blooms", whereas calanoid copepods can be found in great numbers during the warm period
The megalopa, the last larval stage of Carcinus maenas belongs to the meroplankton
The meduse Rathkea oktopunktata
