Macroalgae and Seegrass in the Northfrisian Wadden Sea
Green algae and seagrasses grow on tidal flats in the northern Wadden Sea. In response to eutrophication, a massive development of green algal mats occurred in the early 1990s. Mats still show up every summer and partly overlap with beds of seagrass. Coverage in the tidal zone is mapped from the air, and causal factors of change are investigated experimentally.
